Apple iPhone 6s to Have Increased Internal Storage; No More 16GB Option for New Phone
Staff ReporterThere are so many speculations about Apple's new iPhone product, but the latest report states that the iPhone 6s will no longer have the 16GB basic storage option, since the lowest storage will already start at 32GB.
After the 32GB option, users can choose to increase their storage to 64Gb and 128GB, according to the sources from MICGadget. It has been previously reported that Apple is already planning on expanding the iPhone storage to give the device an edge in the market.
However, a different report from 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman, a reliable leak source for Apple products, posted images of the alleged iPhone 6s' internal components and showed that the basic chip will still be at 16GB.
According to Business Insider, however, there is still a chance that the new iPhone 6s will run on a bigger storage since these photos could have been the early prototypes of the device. After different hints from Apple on a bigger storage capacity, they could have made tweaks on the design and the hardware as well.
If they would actually increase the storage of the product, they can eliminate the complaints filed by iPhone users last year who said that they were having a hard time updating their devices because of low storage capacity.
Apple tried fixing this issue by announcing that the new software update, iOS 9, will have a lower size than the iOS 8, which means it will not take too much of the device's storage.
Apple believes that users are utilizing their cloud data that is why they are continuing on releasing 16GB devices.
"The belief is more and more as we use iCloud services for documents and our photos and videos and music, that perhaps the most price-conscious customers are able to live in an environment where they don't need gobs of local storage because these services are lightening the load," senior VP of Apple's worldwide marketing, Phile Schiller, said.
