Have you ever gone travelling and end up having a lost your luggage or even got stolen? Or have you ever gone travelling, spending half the time in the plane worrying about it? Well consider your problem solved with this latest innovation that is making waves in the internet.

Introducing Airbolt, a Bluetooth 4.2 enabled lock that has a variety of high tech security measures in its system that can only be controlled through YOUR smartphone. Airbolt's idea of security enables you to put the safety of your things in your own hands. How does this work then?

Airbolt starts with pairing with your smartphone, so that only you can unlock it when you are within the set range of your luggage. The set range of distance can be customize and is one of the features that Airbolt has. You can also set it to sound off an alarm to alert you if for some reason, you get separated from your luggage. For example, you accidentally left it behind or if someone tries to get your luggage without your permission. If you, however, did not set up the distance control for your lock, you can still manually make it sound the alarm if your luggage gets misplaced or goes missing.

And since a lot of people are a bit paranoid when it comes to their things, Airbolt has been fashioned to also have redundant features/measures built-in them. For example, what if you lose or accidentally damaged your smartphone, what would happen now? Well, all is not lost as Airbolt has a feature where it allows you to log in to your account using another device to unlock your bag and claim back the security setting access to your lock. Another problem you might worry about is if your phone gets stolen. Airbolt has already considered this so it also comes with a security pin to prevent unauthorized access to your bag.

You might also ask how about if my luggage got lost, well Airbolt plans to solve this by employing a crowd sourced GPS network. This will enable your fellow travellers to find your bags. Member of Airbolt's community will be able to ping your luggage's last known location. The downside for this though is you need help from a fellow Airbolt owner for it to work perfectly.

But wait, there's more. Airbolt has been designed in such a way that is conforms to the TSA standards and has also have about 5000 units pre-approved by the TSA themselves. And though this doesn't mean that your luggage won't ever be broken into to check it, your Airbolt has a use log that makes the owner see if their bag has been snooped into even if it is required in the said country. Meanwhile for those countries that don't employ TSA, your lock's settings can be adjusted. Remember, Airbolt is built to make sure that you can protect your privacy as much as possible.

Airbolt is inspired by problems encountered while travelling with your luggage. It will come with a rechargeable Li-ion battery that can last for up to a year and will have a back-up button unlocking feature that will enable the owner to unlock it even if your iPhone or Android phone runs out of battery.

For now Airbolt is not yet commercially produced but is available through their Kickstarter campaign. As of now their goal of 50,000 AUD or about 36,168 USD has already been reached and seems to be nearly doubling it as their funding is already near 70,000 USD. The backers of the project get their own Airlock for pledging about 47 USD or more. Airbolt is expected to sell at about 56 USD per lock. There are still a lot left to do according to the team behind it if all goes according to their plan, they will finish everything and will be able to launch the Airbolts by August next year.
