Apple Finally Upgrades Their Music And iTunes Match Limit To 100k
Mary Cris BalancioRecently, Apple Music and iTunes users have been claiming that the tech company has raised the song upload/matching limit of the application. According to them the limit now exceeds over 25,000 as was earlier promised by SVP for Internet Software and Services, Eddy Cue.
Cue has even confirmed that the rumor about their update of rolling out 100k libraries is true. With the increase going live, libraries that could previously handle 25,000 will now be able to have additional songs matched and/or uploaded.
It could be recalled the late June, Cue has said in a tweet that the Cupertino company is working on raising their Music application's matching limit from 25,000 to 100,000 for the iOS 9 debut. However when the said OS debuted in September the said changes did not happen. During October, when someone checked on Cue regarding the issue, all he managed to say was that they are working on it and that the increase would definitely roll out before 2015 ends. And voila! The rest is history.
Having more than 25,000 of home music collections is fairly common, so the previous limit made users unhappy about it. Most, if not all, libraries usually are within the 100k limit quota. But now, consumers with larger music libraries will now be able to enjoy the benefits of matching songs in the iTunes Cloud to make it available on all their devices. Matching songs also enables users who cannot afford the expensive 64GB and 128GB iPhone models through off-loading the local music storage to the cloud.
The iCloud Music Library is available via the Apple Music or iTunes Match. Both of these services offer the same match/upload music locker feature. For now, a full streaming subscription service to the application is priced at $9.99 USD.
Apple has been strengthening their Apple Music service in the last few months of this year. It launched Apple Music for Android last November and announced a support for the Sonos home speaker systems that will begin by Dec. 15. The full rollout of this Sonos and Apple Music collaboration will be launched by 2016.
