Facebook has a lot more surprises in store for their fans. For a couple of years now, the public has been treated with apps, features, upgrades and the likes of anything that strikes the social networking sites fancy. And this time is no different.

It has come to light that the social networking site has a hidden section that could be Yelp's competitor as a go-to directory for local businesses. The uncovered section enables users to search everything from car dealerships to local plumbers to photographers to restaurants or find reviews and information on certain local businesses.

So how does Facebook Professional Services work? The social media offers a host of different business categories, once a user selects one of these categories, a list of well-rated local businesses with links to their business profile pages that contain information regarding that business plus reviews that they have received.

According to Facebook's spokesperson, the social networking company is in the early stages of testing the said service. The feature is also a way for users to easily find more pages for the services they would like to check.

The previously unknown desktop-only tool called Professional Services was found accidentally by Acodez IT Solutions Sreedev Sharma. The tool is said to look like Facebook's other old directory which was called "Places." Places lets users see the best destinations they can go to when they select a locale.

Although similar and might be connected or combined with each other, there is still no clear information on whether it is just a test tool or what the other plans the social networking site has for these tools.

For now, the Professional Services feature seems to be like the other earlier features and apps that give way to future major updates or releases. So an official launch might or might not happen in the future.
