Nexus Owners Encounter Sync Issues

Nexus Owners Encounter Sync Issues

Mary Cris Balancio

It has just come to light that Nexus is having several syncing issues with a number of popular Google apps like Google Now, Gmail and Inbox. Owners of the said smartphone have noticed that the issue seems to affect those that have the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow software.

One Nexus 6P device owner reportedly wrote on the device's Help Forum that whenever he tries to send a test email to his handheld device, his Nexus doesn't notify him of the email even if he remains waiting for a long time. But the user observed that his Nexus 9 and old OnePlus One sync notify him without any problems.

Another user also complained of how there are no Gmail notifications after the phone has been sitting idle for some time. When the user gave an example of him leaving his Nexus 6 that runs on the updated Android 6.0 for 30 minutes and then sending a test email to his Gmail, he didn't receive any notification.

The issue is already in the Android Issue Tracker forum and currently has already been starred by at least 140 users. Meanwhile, the Android team seems to be in on the issue already and hopefully would be able to resolve it anytime soon. Or it can provide a solution to the problem since resetting one's Google account, factory resetting, clearing caches, etc have not managed to fix the problem for those who have tried these options already.

A few users in the growing thread have noticed that the problem may have to do with the Doze feature that was included in the latest Android 6.0. Some even claim that the issue can be solved by turning off that said feature. Although this was effective for the user who recommended it, not all were lucky enough to have this solution work out for them. At this point, since there is no official word from the tech giant yet, it's really hard to say where the syncing went wrong.

Users can only hope that the solution to this problem has already been added to the next software update, Android 6.0.2, or to the upcoming security update coming this month. Just keep hoping. Who knows what's going to happen?
