Year 2016 has barely started, but Xiaomi is at it again. The Chinese smartphone maker has now officially introduced the next device that it will add to its ever-growing collection of handheld devices. The latest to join its list is the Xiaomi Redmi 3. The latest device to join the company is a dual-SIM-supported device with an expansion slot.

This device that is expected to be powered by a 4,100mAh battery, which is double the size of that of its predecessor, which has 2,200mAh, will be running Android 5.1 Lollipop on a 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor. Xiaomi Redmi 3, according to the leakage, will be having a 5-inch HD IPS display with an internal 16GB, which is also expandable up to 128GB.

The leaked images of the Redmi 3 phone also shows that there might be a possibility that there are two versions of the said device coming out as the images were given codenames Mi 2015811 and Mi 2015812. Both phone versions are expected to have the same features and specifications except for the display size.

While one of them features a 5-inch display, the other will have a 5.5-inch IPS HD display--a .5 difference, but it could still make a difference. Xiaomi will also be offering a reverse charging feature for the Redmi 3. This feature will enable the user to charge his other devices via USB OTG.

Aside from these specs, the Redmi 3 phones are expected to have a RAM of 2GB. The devices will also be sporting a 13-megapixel primary rear shooter and a 5-megapixel secondary front-facing shooter. It is also rumoured to have a weight of around 145 grams, which is already making a bit of a scene to those who have seen the leaked info as the weight is considerably low if one would base it on the size of the battery.

Xiaomi Redmi 3 will be coming with a slim metal body. Some speculations say that the back part of the phone will also be etched with a plaid pattern. That is entirely possible looking at the teaser photo posted by the Chinese tech company on its Weibo account. The rear panel of the device also has a textured finish.

The specifications and features of the said phone have been leaked days before its official launching in China, which was set on Jan. 12. Xiaomi Redmi 3 is set to launch in India by the end of 2016's first quarter.
