Instagram Wednesday rolled out its new yet colorful logo, and while a few are enjoying the new update, it seems majority of the users are not too happy with it.
The photo social media platform got rid of its iconic camera logo and replaced it with a minimalistic design. Additionally, the colors have also been changed, and the present logo features a combination of pink, purple, yellow and orange hues. Instagram's new design swaps the Polaroid-inspired camera with rainbow accent for a brighter, more minimalist look, according to Mashable.
Notably, to keep up with the change of its logo, Instagram has also given a brand new color code to the timeline. Now, users can shared photos in a black and white background compared to the former blue and white background, reported New York Daily News.
Like other major changes of the internet world, the online community was not too receptive with it. Instagram users took to twitter to trash the new logo and crack jokes about the same.
"Color has always been a huge part of Instagram - you see it in the classic app icon, filters, and the community's photos and videos," Ian Spalter, Head of Design at Instagram, wrote in a Medium post. "When we started reimagining the rainbow, we looked at more minimal options, but ultimately we needed more warmth and energy to complement the glyph."
Notably, this is the first time in five years when the app got a major re - design. Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, mentioned that the color change in the platform is to help users concentrate better on the photos shared.
Additionally, all of suite apps associated with Instagram, namely Hyperlapse, Boomerang, and Layout got a makeover in their design. The other apps were provided with a much simpler design, but use the same colors against a white background.
