Moto Z Is The Future: Lenovo To Scrap Moto X Brand Only To Recoup With Moto Z Style And Moto Z Play
Dheeraj RThe Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Lenovo, is all set to replace its Moto X brand with another title, Moto Z. The company is reportedly planning to launch its next-generation Moto X successors with the titles Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play.
"In an interesting development, Lenovo-owned Motorola is reportedly planning to ditch the Moto X brand and rename its flagship handset series," reported NDTV. "The company is pegged to release two flagship smartphones this year under a new 'Z' series brand name for its flagship smartphones."
With the Moto X and Moto Z brand fight and changes, few reports have emerged which suggests that Lenovo is also planning to launch the Moto Z Droid by ditching its trailing names like Turbo and Max. The device would just be called the Droid Edition.
Apart from the brand name change information, there are reports that few more interesting things have surfaced about the upcoming Moto Z Style and Moto Z Play. "The Moto Z Style, codenamed Vector Thin, will reportedly be the more premium of the two phones," reported Venture Beat. "The Moto Z Play, codenamed Vortex, will have pared down features in comparison. So at least that part of the naming scheme kind of follows the strategy Motorola took with the X line last year."
Design & Trend reported that the new smartphones will be available with a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen. But the Moto Z Style is rumored to be a superior model among the two. It is speculated to consist of a quad-HD screen and a Snapdragon 820 processor. Also, the smartphone will feature either 3GB or 4GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage.
Moreover, the Moto Z Style will also consist of a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2,600mAh battery. On the other hand, the Moto Z Play will feature a full HD screen, a Snapdragon 625 processor and 2GB of RAM or 3GB of RAM, reported PC-Tablet. It will consist of only 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. Even though the device will have many mediocre features as compared to Moto Z Style, the 3, 5000 mAh battery will help it to get an upper hand in terms of battery.
In addition, the new smartphones will also feature various modular accessories and will be named as MotoMods. These modular extras are speculated to include various innovative features like a camera grip with optical zoom, improved stereo speakers and also a Pico projector for projecting videos to the wall.
There are reports that an official explanation would be given by Lenovo at the device's launch event as to why the Moto X brand name has been changed in the first place.
