The remake of Atlus' side-scrolling RPG "Odin Sphere" is coming out this week. Fans are excited to revisit the classic game in all its HD glory. For those who are new to the title, here's a quick rundown of the playable characters in the game.

Gwendolyn, the Valkyrie Princess

Gwendolyn is the youngest daughter of Demon Lord Odin, and princess of Ragnanival. Her loyalty to her father is admirable, as she will do anything to gain his approval. However, as the story progresses, she begins to question her purpose, and realizes that there is life beyond being just an obidient soldier.

Gwendolyn is an adept spear wielder. She uses her limited flying ability to launch a powerful dive attack, which can take care of multiple mobs at once. Her Psypher ability grants her the power to create a "shadow" of herself to help her fight against the enemy. She also has the highest HP and Defense amongst all other playable characters.

Oswald, The Shadow Knight

Oswald is the most powerful soldier in the Ringford Army, and the husband of Gwendolyn. Dubbed as "The Shadow Knight", Oswald is a blood-thirsty warrior, coming out as heartless on the battlefield. Inside his tough persona, however, is a depressed young man, who seeks the love of his wife, Gwendolyn, and his mentor, Melvin.

Oswald is the fastest character in the game, as far as running speed is concerned. He also has the highest HP growth amongst all characters. His Shadow Form ability gives him increased buffs for a few seconds, but renders him stunned after, since this depletes his Power Bar quite rapidly. Oswald can also use spells like Invisible and Cyclone later in the game.

Velvet, The Witch of Elrit

Velvet is the princess of the fallen kingdom of Valentine. She is also the older daughter of Odin with Princess Ariel, which makes her and Gwendolyn half-sisters. She is an outcast to both her grandfather, King Valentine, and the citizens of Valentine, when the truth about her and her twin brother, Ingway, was revealed.

Velvet wields Graveryl, a dual edged Psypher chain. She's the weakest character in the game, but makes up for it with her fast chain attacks and Psypher growth. She can also cause instant death to her enemies with her chain, and has a wide variation of attacks.

Mercedes, The Fairy Queen

Mercedes is the young fairy princess of Ringford. Her mother, Queen Elfaria, was killed by Odin, thus thrusting Mercedes into the throne at a young age. She struggled with the sudden shift in responsibilities and the death of her mother.

Mercedes wields a Psypher crossbow names Tasla, which makes her the only ranged character in the game. She also has low HP and defense, but makes up for it with her ability to fly and her strong Riblam Psypher ability.

Cornelius, The Pooka Prince

Cornelius is the prince of the Human kingdom of Titania. He was ambushed and inflicted with the Pooka Curse while looking for Velvet. The prince, now in Pooka form, continues to find Velvet, and the person who is responsible for his fate.

Cornelius, even in Pooka form, is an excellent swordsman. His Pooka form granted him great agility in battle, and can avoid enemy attacks because of his small size. He also has the ability to do a fast spin slash move that makes him bounce off enemies and deal damage.

"Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir" will be released on the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita on June 7.
