AMD Radeon RX 470 and RX 460 Graphic Cards Confirmed; Affordable Chips For Intensive Gaming
Krezna de los ReyesAMD has recently revealed the two newest additions to the Polaris family, RX 470 and RX 460 graphic cards, during the E3 2016 event.
Polaris is the company's latest GPU micro-architecture developed from the 14nm FinFet manufacturing process. These products were introduced by AMD's CEO, Lisa Su on Monday along with a further look into the new RX 480's brethren, according to GameSpot.
It was reported that the company aims to attract more video game enthusiasts with their new graphic cards, instead of going for a direct competition against Nvidia's GeForce GTX 107.
AMD's new Radeon RX 470 graphic card was described as "refined, power-efficient" best suitable for 1080p gaming resolution, while the RX 460 one will be "a cool and efficient solution for the ultimate e-sports gaming experience," said Su, as reported by PC Gamer.
The physical attributes of the chips were made to be very thin with a low Z-height so that it would fit into thin gaming notebooks. Also, the whole Polaris line will be compatible to features such as HDR, DX12, HDMI 2.0b, Vulkan, H.265 encoding or decoding and Display Port 1.3 or 1.4.
Meanwhile, the RX 480 that was launched last month was designed for 1440p gaming and virtual reality for an inexpensive price. Furthermore, the 4GB variety of the graphics chip will be available on June 29 and will cost $199, according to Polygon.
The company boasts that their product would surpass those $500 chips present in VR.
On the other hand, the company said in a press release that the upcoming GPUs equipped in a thin 1080p notebook can produce console-class graphics at 60fps, which was also speculated to be its mobile variant.
Although AMD didn't reveal in-depth information about the new Radeon RX 460 and 470 graphic cards, consumers can rest easy knowing that these top of the line gaming chips are officially confirmed.
