Why Was 'Allison Road' Cancelled? 'Silent Hills' P.T. Spiritual Successor Now Back In Development
Jazz RosinA few months after its fate was supposedly sealed, the spiritual successor of "P.T.", "Allison Road," is now back from the dead, and has resumed development.
The promising first-person horror game has had its history of ups and downs. The game's creator, then known as Lilith, has originally started a Kickstarter campaign for the game, and has amassed over £145,000 (around $190,000) and 4,482 backers.
The campaign was cancelled before the developer reached its £250,000 funding goal, after publisher Team 17 picked up the game in October last year, according to VG 24/7.
On June 4, the official Allison Road Twitter account announced that the game will no longer continue development.
The reason for the cancellation was not revealed by both parties, although some speculations have pointed to differences between Team 17 and the developers themselves.
Now the game is confirmed to be back in development, and "Allison Road" creator Christian Kesler aims to work on the game on his own, under the label "Far From Home," according to IGN.
"I'm actually really happy to be able to announce that [Allison Road] will continue," Kesler told IGN. "We had a lot of support online and some folks out there are just incredibly nice."
Kesler still did not reveal the real reason why "Allison Road" was first cancelled, but the creator hinted a bit of tension between the publisher and his previous studio.
"After the set back, I took a bit of a break from working on it and re-evaluated all the work that had been done so far - the whole journey, so to speak." Kesler told IGN.
I started making a few (in my opinion) necessary changes to the story and the flow," the creator added, "little bits and pieces here and there, and before I knew it, it sort of naturally came back to life."
The newly revived "Allison Road" still does not have a release date as of this time, but Kesler confirmed that the project will definitely continue moving forward. Follow the official "Allison Road" account and Kesler's own account on Twitter for more updates.
