'Rise Of The Tomb Raider': PS4 Users Still Upset? 20 Year Celebration Version Gets New Modes, VR
Jazz RosinThe action video game "Rise of the Tomb Raider" breaks free from its timed-exclusivity clause with Microsoft and is now heading to the Playstation 4.
Last month, Crystal Dynamics announced on the Playstation Blog that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will finally make its way to the PS4 almost a year after it was launched on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
The new PS4 version will not just be a simple port from the previous launch. The '20 Year Celebration' edition will have a new story mode called "Blood Ties," which will allow players to explore the iconic Croft Manor and discover its secrets.
In an interview with Metro, 'Rise of the Tomb Raider' DLC lead designer Will Kerslake said that "Blood Ties" will have story and adventure elements, although there will be no combat.
This is also another factor the team has considered when making "Blood Ties" playable via PlayStation VR.
"So we thought about an exploration/adventure-y thing that pulls away some of the difficulties of the first experience," Kerslake said. "One where they're safe, where they don't have to worry about things attacking them, and they can actually look around and explore the space."
For those who are looking for all out action, there will still be combat in the Croft Manor, in the form of another mode "Lara's Nightmare. In this mode, Lara would have to fend off an undead invasion.
An online co-op endurance mode is also added to the game, wherein the player can team up with a friend to see how long they can survive.
Despite this, some PS4 fans are still upset about the fact that the game was a timed exclusive on the Xbox One, and some even refuse to buy the game at its full $60 price.
Some PS4 owners may have waited for the game for too long, and resent missing out on the game for almost a year. The add-ons will make up for the long wait, although these extras will also be made available for season pass holders of the Xbox One and PC versions.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration" will be released on PS4 this October 11 and will include the base game plus all the already released DLC's "Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch" and "Cold Darkness Awakened."
