Xiaomi Mi Air Notebook vs Macbook Pro 2016: Apple Better Watch Out For This Strong Contender
C. de LacyPopular Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi is levelling up its game by threading an entirely new market in the laptop/notebook industry with its own called Mi Notebook Air. Will this damage Apple's sales for its Macbook Pro 2016?
Based on Xiaomi's official website, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air will pack a punch with its premium grade specs that is on par with Apple's offering.
Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air comes with 8GB RAM and with 256 GB SSD, which are decent for a gaming laptop. Powered by an Intel Core i5 processor with NVIDIA GeForce 940MX, the Mi Notebook Air will also be able to run graphic intensive games like "GTA V."
At the moment, the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air is priced at $999 on based from the official website's listings. This could be a cheaper than Apple's Macbook Pro 2016 in its higher tiers.
Still, challenging Apple's well-known line of laptops is no simple feat. Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air is already confirmed with a maximum PPI of 166 under a full HD resolution of 1080p for the display.
The Macbook Pro 2016, on the other hand, is rumored to be getting somewhere around 400-500 PPI. The previous model had 226, which is already large and presents clear pixels well enough.
There's also a bit of a shortcoming with the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air's camera, being limited to only 1-megapixel for 720p video calls. Apple's Macbook Pro 2015 had the same camera resolution, but it could be updated for the 2016 release.
However, for the potential price point, the Mi Notebook Air may be a better option for those who are in a budget, but wouldn't want sacrifice performance. Apple's Macbook Pro 2016 is highly rumored to be getting a price range starting with $1,119 up to $2,099 for a 2.5 Ghz 15-inch Retina.
While the difference in price may not be that eye-popping at the moment, Xiaomi's Mi Notebook Air will still be a nice addition to the already broad choice of mobile gaming laptops from brands like Asus Lenovo.
