'Darksiders 3,' 'Titan Quest' In The Works? Nordic Games Rebranded To THQ Nordic With 23 Games In Development
Jazz RosinNordic Games was virtually unknown when it acquired THQ's trademark in 2013. Now rebranded as THQ Nordic, the developer is speculated to bring out some of THQ's biggest IP's, including the rumored "Darksiders" sequel.
When publisher THQ filed for bankruptcy in 2012, its popular IP's were bought by various publishers, including Ubisoft, Activision, Take-Two Interactive, and Sega, among others. Nordic Games acquired numerous assets of THQ, including the "Darksiders" series, Polygon reported.
"It was kind of surprise to some industry veterans and players that we were the winner of the auction of the THQ titles," General Manager Klemens Kreuser said at the time. "The challenging fact is nobody has ever heard about Nordic Games before [the THQ auction]."
Recently, Nordic Games announced on an official statement that the company has rebranded itself to THQ Nordic, incorporating the THQ name in the brand.
On the same statement, THQ Nordic also confirmed that they have 23 game projects in development, of which some are THQ owned franchises. This opens a possibility of a new "Darksiders" or "Titan Quest" sequel somewhere along the line.
In an interview with MCV (via Tweak Town), CEO Lars Wingefors said that the company is only now coming to terms with THQ's popularity.
"Since we acquired the THQ brand, we have come to realize just how big that name actually is," Wingefors said.
"Our business is so centered around IP we purchased from THQ that I just feel we are a mixture of THQ and Nordic Games," the CEO continued. "I can't comment on each IP, but I can say that quite a few of the unannounced games are from the THQ portfolio."
"I am really excited about having those announced in [the future]. There will be more news soon." he added.
Here are all the THQ IP's and franchises that THQ Nordic has acquired:
"Darksiders"
"De Blob"
"Deadly Creatures"
"Destroy All Humans!"
"Frontlines: Fuel of War"
"Full Spectrum Warrior"
"Juiced"
"MX vs ATV"
"Red Faction"
"Stuntman"
"Summoner"
"The Outfit"
"Titan Quest"
Will we see "Darksiders 3" soon? Check back for updates.
