PlayStation 4 Slim Vs PlayStation 4 Neo: Which Console To Upgrade To?
C. de LacyThe PlayStation Meeting is just a few days away from happening and consumers were surprised with the sudden leak of the PlayStation 4 Slim. Will this steal the PlayStation 4 Neo's spotlight in the upcoming event? Which one is the better buy in the future?
Sony was smart enough to create a hype with the alleged leaks for the PlayStation 4 Slim and it turns out to be the real thing. Now the company has an answer to Microsoft's Project Scorpio and Xbox One S.
However, some consumers might still be contemplating on which one to save for, which may boil down between the Neo and the Slim PlayStation 4. Here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons of both consoles based from what we've learned with them so far.
Specifications
Without the official spec-sheet for the PlayStation 4 Slim, it's still a bit hard to compare the two, but one stand-out feature will the 4K, which the Neo only has.
It's highly rumored that the PlayStation 4 Slim will sport the same hardware specs that the original PlayStation 4 has. This isn't a bad thing though as the original PlayStation 4 powerful enough to almost every PS4 games with no problems.
The PlayStation 4 Neo is expected to have better specs than the original with a bit faster clock-rate speed for the processor. From 1.6 GHz to 2.1GHz to be exact. Still, this wouldn't really mean that much for games that run on the original PS4 that doesn't even show any signs of slowing down or stuttering.
Aesthetics
The PlayStation 4 Neo's design or looks is still a bit of a mystery to the consumers and the internet in general. It was surprising enough that the recent only leaked PlayStation 4 Slim happened to get an actual image first.
The Slim did look nicely downsized without sacrificing any of the specs aside from the capacitive buttons as reports and images indicated.
The PlayStation 4 Slim also removes the half-matte and half-glossy design (which tends to be fingerprint magnet.) The result is an amazing small box with powerful capabilities as shown here.
Games
As Sony instructed every developer and publisher, there will never be any exclusive games for the PlayStation 4 Neo that the original PlayStation 4 wouldn't get. Given these facts, it would be safe for fans to assume that the same rule applies to the PlayStation 4 Slim.
There are no specifics yet, but an easy guess would make the PlayStation 4 Slim cheaper than the PlayStation 4 Neo. Within a few days, we will learn more about these upcoming consoles from Sony as the PlayStation Meeting event comes up.
