iPad Mini 5 Release Date A No-Show; Sneaky Apple Did Something Else To Please Consumers Instead
C. de LacyThe event was over and consumers eyes are only glued to the iPhone 7 and the new Apple Watch. This is not simply because they're better, but this might also be because the iPad Mini 5 is not at all present.
The iPad Mini was also one of the most anticipated announcements from the Apple event yesterday, but unfortunately, it's a no-show. Even the other iPad variances didn't get any new iterations nor other surprises.
While the iPad Mini 5 is not present with the event, Apple did something quietly instead.
Checking the the official Apple website, specifically the page where people can compare and check the specs and pricing for several iPad models, a noticeable change have occurred compared to a cached page a few days before the Apple event. The specifications with the storage capacities for iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4 have increased.
Both the iPad Mini 4 and the iPad Air now has a more flexible storage capacity of 32 GB. Before, the iPad Air only had 16GB and 64GB while the iPad Mini 4 only had 16, 64 and 128GB. For some consumers, 16GB might be too small of a storage, but going 64 may be a bit too much, especially with regards the price.
64GB variants are now not available for the iPad Mini 4 and iPad Air 2, but they still have the same price. This gives consumers twice as much storage without having to dish out extra cash.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro also had a change in price, making it $50 cheaper than before. This price drop was available for both Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi and Cellular models of the 128GB variant. The 256GB variant, however got a whopping $100 price cut instead.
The funny thing about these nice surprises are they weren't announced at all in the event so for those who were busy gawking at the new iPhone 7 might want to check out the website right now. Hopefully, the price drops aren't time-limited.
Apple is still quiet about the iPad Mini 5 and consumers might not even see it this year, but all these are theories and can still be taken as a grain of salt. At least, people will be busy with more choices with slightly older models and the spanking new iPhone 7.
