The confusing hybrid of a phone and tablet -Samsung Galaxy Note - has been a success for the Korean tech giant. Currently it is available in U.S. on AT&T. But the recent news is that it is also heading to T-Mobile, expanding to more carriers.
Folks at TmoNews have been able to click the camera over T-Mobile variant of Galaxy Note. Last week, TmoNews claimed that Samsung SGH-T879 could be T-Mobile's variant of Galaxy Note. Now they are supporting their claims with photo evidence. Along with a monster-sized smartphone, T-Mobile is brining desserts to users with Galaxy Note. In the first look, the upcoming T-Mobile phones look identical to its AT&T brother. The sole difference is that it has a T-Mobile logo above the screen. But the screenshot images clearly indicated that this one is slightly different from the AT&T's Galaxy Note.
The forthcoming 5.3-inch phablet, with model number SGH-T879 runs the latest installment of android OS dubbed Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box. The firmware version is same as the recent Samsung ICS updates i.e. v4.0.3. It has 5.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels.
Surprisingly the phone also features Wi-Fi calling. A toggle option for Wi-Fi calling has been spotted in 'Wireless and networks' settings. The phone also packs the regular collection of T-Mobile apps including T-Mobile Name ID, My T-Mobile, T-Mobile Mall and T-Mobile TV. T-Mobile Galaxy Note comes with the regular 2,500 mAh Li-Ion battery.
Looking at the leaked photos and related specs, SGH-T879 is better than i717 (AT&T's Galaxy Note), which still runs Android v2.3 Gingerbread. Also, it has Wi-Fi calling option, which is not present on Galaxy Note i717.
The price of T-Mobile Galaxy Note is also unknown yet. However, at AT&T, the phone is priced at $299 with a 2-year contract. So a similar price tag is being expected. It is believed that the phone has already passed through the production phase and the release date is just around the corner. We may see it releasing at the 3-day CTIA Wireless Show starting May 8.
