Google Nexus 2016 To be Released This October As Pixel Instead? New Device To Feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Processor, Android 7.1 Nougat OS
Kirsten KaneThe Nexus 2016 is set to launch soon, however, there were reports saying that Google will be replacing its current "Nexus" branding in to "Pixel" as a complete overhaul.
Instead of naming the latest smartphones Nexus Sailfish and Nexus Marlin, it is reportedly being referred to as the Pixel and the Pixel XL. The devices are believed to be the fastest Android phones in town which will hit the store shelves soon.
Meanwhile, the Pixel (Sailfish) and Pixel XL (Marlin) might be the first handset to sport an updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. Both devices are expected to be powered by the Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.
The Google Pixel is said to have a 5-inch display while the Google Pixel XL is with slightly bigger screen of 5.5-inch.
The two smartphones, which are the successors to last year's Nexus devices Google Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, are rumored to sport a 4GB RAM with an internal storage of 32GB for the Pixel and 128GB for the Pixel XL. However, this was not yet confirmed by the company.
Furthermore, the Pixel and Pixel XL may sport 2560 x 1440 pixels and 2560 x 1600 pixels resolutions and could be decked with a 13MP rear camera with some incredible features and advanced functions.
The Pixel XL is expected to house a 3450 mAh battery, while the other variant will have a 2770 mAh battery. Both new devices are anticipated to have a USB Type-C port which is for faster transfer of data and faster charging.
On the other hand, just recently, pictures of Google Pixel XL leaked online and the design of the phone does not match with what was shown back in July, as reported by Android Pure.
There is still no word as to when Google will launch the Pixel and the Pixel XL, but rumors suggested that the tech giant will announce the Google Nexus 2016 on October 4 and release them on October 20.
