'No Man's Sky': Will Sean Murray Finally Speak Up? Game Gets 'Overwhelmingly Negative' Reviews On Steam
J RoseThe once highly anticipated open-space exploration game "No Man's Sky" continues its fall from grace as the game receives negative reviews from angry players.
As of press time, "No Man's Sky" has an "overwhelmingly negative" review rating on Steam, getting only a mere 11 per cent positive reviews out of 5,645 in the last thirty days. The game is now one of the lowest rated games on the gaming site, according to VG 24/7.
The Playstation 4 version of the game also received tons of negative reviews from disappointed players on review aggregator Metacritic, getting a generally unfavorable rating of 4.5 out of 10 and more than 600 negative reviews.
The number of "No Man's Sky"players has also decreased significantly from launch, with only around 300 people playing the game at the moment, peaking only at around 1000 on most days, compared to its all-time peak of 212,613 during its first week of release, according to SteamDB.
All this negativity towards the game stemmed from developer Hello Games giving false expectations about the game prior to launch. The developer studio, with Sean Murray at the helm, has been quite successful stirring hype for the game ever since it was first launched.
However, the final game is not exactly what the developer has described, and even President of Sony's Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida blamed the indie studio for building up unrealisic expectations about "No Man's Sky" before launch.
While the team chose to keep silent about the game on social media, "No Man's Sky" audio chief Paul Weir said on Twitter that the team and Murray is "fine" and busy working on the next patch, Playstation Lifestyle reported.
About Hello Games' silence, however, Weir said that he has "nothing useful to say." "It's entirely up to Hello [Games] or Sean as to when they want to talk publicly," the audio chief added.
It is also reported by Playstation Lifestyle earlier this month that Geoff Keighley has talked to Murray recently, and the developer may finally break his silence on Keighley's "Live With Youtube Gaming" show sometime in the future.
