'Half-Life 3' And VR Coming Together? Valve Making Subtle Hints Again
C. de LacyValve has been teasing fans for "Half-Life 3," and it's already been more than a decade since the last game. A recent tease from Valve hints virtual reality, but will this be for the 3rd game in the series?
Based from what Valve News Network recently reported, since Dota 2's update last week was rolled out, some people have found a few lines of code that specifically says "used to force the HLVR player to speak."
The update coverage can be watched below:
This could mean anything, but this could also be tied to the recent Steam VR app Destinations scripts. A few line of codes were also added that relates to the "HLVR" term as well as other codes and assets for first person shooter games.
Valve, as expected, haven't made any specific announcement regarding anything, let alone "Half-Life 3." Whatever these codes mean are still a mystery to most and for all the fans could know, these could be Valve pulling their legs again.
A report regarding HTC working with Valve for "Half-Life 3" surfaced last year, but this got debunked pretty early due to HTC's move on apologizing for the mistake that the company have done as covered by KitGuru.
Valve itself was surprised that HTC made some announcements regarding their collaboration with them on working on a "VR Half-Life" game. Valve made firm comments that the company is not currently working on a VR "Half-Life" game at the time and found HTCs announcements quite surprising.
Instead, what the two companies were working on together was the "Vive," Valve's own virtual reality headset built in collaboration with HTC. It was reported on however on IGN UK that a huge portion of Valve's development team is working on an AR/VR research. If rumors are to be believed, this could be the "Half-Life 3" game everybody has been waiting for more than a decade.
Be sure to stay tuned for more "Half-Life 3" news and updates.
