Players may see a familiar face when "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" hits the store shelves in January 2017.

Recently, game developer Capcom released two new trailers for the upcoming survival horror video game, giving fans a taste of what's to come. The said trailer, which was widely circulated on Twitter, featured a mysterious caller saying, "That voice... who could it be?"

This apparently sparked speculation that the mysterious caller is the fan favorite character, Ada Wong. Game Spot, on the other hand, believed that it is the agent of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment named Alliance Sheva Alomar. Both characters appeared in the past installment of the "Resident Evil" franchise.

Rather than revealing insight into the real identity of the mysterious caller, Capcom released the second trailer for "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard." The 28-second long trailer featured one of the many weapons that players can use in battling against a large number of adversaries - described as mutant creatures.

Although Capcom previously stated game players should not expect a gun fest, the upcoming "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will reportedly feature weapons such as shotguns, pistols, flamethrowers, chainsaws and explosives.

"The game is survival horror," "Resident Evil 7" director Koushi Nakanishi told Eurogamer at the 22nd Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 2016) on June 15.

The upcoming survival horror video game will apparently feature a new protagonist, Ethan, who is on the quest for his missing wife named Mia. Not much is known about the character other than the fact that he does not have enough combat skills.

"If anyone out there has a bloodlust for holding a gun, check out Umbrella Corps. We are separating these aspects out into different titles where that gameplay can come to the fore, and makes the most sense for that title," Nakanishi added.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is intended to be released on Jan. 24, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
