'Pokémon GO' Update: First Halloween Event A Roaring Success With Free Candy; More Events In The Future

Three months after its release, Niantic Labs is finally bringing "Pokémon GO" back to life with its first ever event this Halloween, and it looks like people are getting back into the game again because of it.

The developer has launched its Halloween event today, and will run all throughout the week, ending on Nov. 1. During the event, in the spirit of Trick or Treat, trainers will be able to get more candy from each Pokémon, getting six candies instead of the usual three.

Professor Willow is also getting in on the spirit of Halloween, awarding trainers double the amount of candy for each Pokémon transferred. Buddy Pokémon will also earn you candies four times faster. Now's the best time to get out and hoard all those candies.

Since it's Halloween, some Ghost Pokémon will have a higher spawn rate this week, with Gastly, Haunter and Gengar appearing more often that usual. Other Pokémon like Zubat, Golbat, Drowzee, Hypno, Cubone, Marowak and Meowth will also spawn more often until Nov. 1, so now's a good time to nab them if you don't have these Pokémon in your Pokédex yet.

The Halloween event was met with positive response from the community, with some thanking Niantic Labs for doing a complete turnaround despite all the issues about tracking among other things.

"It's crazy to think that I was watching this sub literally catch on fire with all the hate and salt at Niantic," Redditor zslayer89 said. "I'm not saying the anger wasn't deserved, what with the lack luster updates but the announcement of a Halloween event, and it's sudden activation have turned this sub's frown upside down."

Fans are now hoping that the Halloween event is a start of many more events to come for "Pokémon GO."

It also looks like Niantic is set to introduce Daily Quests in "Pokémon GO" soon, as discovered in the game's metadata by Pokémon GO Hub.

Hopefully, more people will now be getting back into playing "Pokémon GO." We will probably be getting more events in the future. Christmas event, anyone? Stay tuned for updates.
