'GTA 6' Development Nowhere To Be Seen; Here Are Great Alternatives To Try Until Then

C. de Lacy

With the recent announcement of the upcoming "Red Dead Redemption 2," speculations about the development of "GTA 6" getting canned or postponed may actually happen rather than not. Still, fans of the genre need not to fret as there are tons of good alternatives waiting to be tried out.

We list down the best alternative games that still play similarly with what we've come to love about the "Grand Theft Auto" series from Rockstar Games. Though they may not be exactly the same as with what fans look forward with "GTA 6," these games feel almost reminiscent of the open-world crime sprawl gameplay.

Mafia 3

If there's anything worth mentioning about which games are similar to what "GTA 6" will be or might be, "Mafia 3" might take the cake. For one, it is the most recently released game that has the same vein as the open-world "Grand Theft Auto" game is.

While not entirely focused on providing complete freedom with the players focuses and the control to the morality, "Mafia 3" still manages to provide a great experience. The story is also one of its main aspects, that could even be better than "GTA V."

Sleeping Dogs

While not exactly the newest game in the block, "Sleeping Dogs" is still a solid open-world game where players can pretty much drive, do side jobs and just cause total mayhem. Thing is, unlike "Grand Theft Auto" and its perspective, "Sleeping Dogs" puts the players' shoes of a hard-boiled cop gone rogue.

It also provides players with a deep hand-to-hand combat system, which adds flair to the game and the gunfight is just as impressive.

Just Cause 3

It may be an unpopular opinion, but a large number of fans playing "Grand Theft Auto" spend most of their time causing destruction and trouble around town. For those who see this as a huge chunk of what makes the "GTA" series fun, "Just Cause 3" might be a title worth checking out.

Unlike the first two games mentioned above, the protagonist is neither a good nor a bad guy and the freedom to do exactly as anybody wishes in this game is fine. The great thing about it is that even with mediocre storytelling, blowing things up and causing chaos has never been as fan as it is with "Just Cause 3."

We still have no clue whether "GTA 6" will come around sooner or later, but these games might just do for the mean time. Be sure to stay tuned for updates and news.
