'Five Nights At Freddy's: Sister Location': Creator Slams Labelling, Negative Criticisms Hurting The Game
C. de Lacy"Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" and its fanbase are drawing an increasing number of criticisms. Scott Cawthon, the creator of the game, defends his game's fanbase from being labeled "toxic."
In a recent post that Cawthon made in the Steam community, several points were made regarding how it is not fair for certain people labeling the entire fanbase as a whole as toxic. He mentioned that every fanbase has its ugly side and this is an inconvenient truth.
The same thing actually happened with "No Man's Sky," which supposedly had a huge fanbase of its own, ending up to actually have more toxic communities than we thought. What the problem is, even if the game is reasonably good, its fanbase is a strong reflection of what it actually is.
"Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" is an excellent game, but to the people pointing fingers at what they think and believe as a toxic community isn't just hurting the community, but the game's reputation just as well.
"I do think that sometimes people try to make honest criticisms of the fanbase. I still think those posts are misguided for the reasons above. It's just as wrong as grouping together any other type of people and labeling them based on the actions of a few." - Scott mentioned in the post.
To be fair, this practice that Scott is trying to encourage is very much applicable into any sort of fanbase and will benefit both the game, service, product and the community that support it.
