Following the release of iPhone 7, there were rumors and speculations circulating on the internet that the Apple will introduce a new flagship smartphone on 2017 as it celebrates iPhone's 10th anniversary. However, the company is expected to leave out the 'S' generation and call its anniversary model iPhone 8.
Many fans hope that the tech giant will make some big changes to its next generation handset instead of just gradational updates as there was a lack of enhancement and innovation in Apple's current-gen iPhone 7.
According to Tech Radar, the company will create a major overhaul in its design, specs and features. In addition, it will likely to come out in September next year.
"While there aren't yet any rumored release dates for the iPhone 8 this is one thing that's easy to take a guess at, as Apple tends to stick to a similar schedule each year," the source said.
"In fact, with the exception of the iPhone SE, every Apple handset since the iPhone 5 in 2012 has been launched in September. There's no reason to think that will change for the iPhone 8, so expect to see it in September 2017," the source added.
Moreover, there were rumors suggesting that the Apple has placed $4 billion order to Samsung. It has been said that the South Korean multinational electronics company will be the supplier of the OLED panel to the Cupertino giant.
The iPhone 8 is speculated to be available in three variants which will have a glass chassis rather than all-metal. The next generation handset is projected to feature an iris scanner and fast wireless charging through the help of Energous.
"This innovative charging is currently being worked on at Energous, with signs pointing to a potential partnership with Apple. The company has previously said it's working with a "tier 1" smartphone manufacturer, meaning it's either collaborating with Samsung or Apple," Digital Spy reported, adding that "This tech would allegedly allow you to be up to 15ft away from a transmitter plugged into the wall and still be able to add juice through an in-built receiver."
The other major design change that has been reported is the deletion of the home button since the Touch ID.
In terms of camera, iPhone 8 is anticipated to feature a more improved camera. It is said to be powered by a new A11 Fusion processor and might be launched in Deep Blue color option.
Apple is yet to give its official statement about this rumored iPhone 8.
