Watch Out! 'Pokémon GO' Latest Update Will Kill Your Phone's Battery

Augmented reality game "Pokémon GO" has always been a battery drainer, but the latest update will definitely kill your phone battery even more.

According to "Pokémon GO" Hub, the game has drained phone battery faster since the new 0.45.0 version was launched. Based on their tests, the new update drain battery 30 percent faster than on the 0.43.0 version.

Users over at The Sliph Road Subreddit have also noticed the significant change in battery drain when playing "Pokémon GO."

"Today is the first time I used the 0.45.0 [update] during lunch hour. In 1.5 hours, my Note 2 battery down from 92 percent to 11 percent. Total 81 percent," Reddit user DanFishCatch commented. "Usually, 1.5 hours use between 50 to 65 percent. "

"Also using a OnePlus One, battery usually lasts 3 hours on the game," another Redditor said. "Today it drained 20 percent in 15 mins, then I plugged it into my portable charger so I didn't keep track of it afterward. Definitely draining it much faster than normal."

Some have even said that their portable chargers can't keep up with the fast battery drain the new "Pokémon GO" update has allegedly caused.

"My portable battery used to very slowly bring back up my cellular battery life," one Redditor said. "Since the 0.45 update: Not all of the time, but sometimes the battery life actually drops while being charged on a fast charge battery."

Another alarming thing about the new update is that some Redditors noticed an increase in temperature. While it is not an unusual occurrence with big battery draining apps like "Pokémon GO," users now have a higher risk of completely busting their phone batteries, and can be potentially dangerous.

"Pokémon GO" Hub speculates that the heightened security measures against third-party trackers may be the cause of the increased battery drain.

"Pokémon GO" has always been a notorious battery drainer, so much that it doubled the sales of external battery packs within a month of its release, Recode.net reported.
