The MacBook Air 2017 is one of the highly-anticipated devices and was first expected to be announced at the Apple event last October 27.But fans were disappointed when the company instead compared it to the latest MacBook Pro in terms of size, thickness, weight and performance; making others speculate that the MacBook Air lineup has been discontinued or totally killed off.
While the Air brand has been ignored by Apple, it received a minor and unsatisfactory upgrade in 2016 which merely includes an optional RAM upgrade for the 13-inch variant. With that, fans were speculating that the insignificant upgrade might mean that the product line is on its way out or the company is just saving all the major upgrades for a revamp of MacBook Air next year.
Latest reports suggested that the new Apple device might be released too soon. Some reports said that it will likely come out on March 2017 while others stated that it may be launched in the month of April or May of next year.
Meanwhile, there were rumors circulating on the web that the MacBook Air 2017 might be the cheapest or the most affordable Mac laptop in the market soon.
In addition, rumors are rife that the upcoming laptop device will be slimmer and lighter compared to its predecessors.
According to Techradar, "one feature that is a shoo-in for the new MacBook Air, however, is Siri. The virtualized personal assistant on mobile has come to the Mac through macOS Sierra, the OS X El Capitan successor ships pre-installed on every new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 2016."
Moreover, the device is expected to sport a Retina display and E-ink Keyboard. It might be powered by an Intel Kaby Lake processor and ARM chips. It is said to pack the Touch ID feature together with the Force Touch upgrade and might also pack a battery that will last up to 12.5 hours with web surfing.
The most-awaited laptop device is said to feature two USB Type-C ports, a thunderbolt 3 and SD card slot.
MacBook Air 2017 is still unknown as the Apple is yet to give its statement on whether or not it will finally discontinue its Air lineup.
