'Final Fantasy 7' Remake: Everything We Know So Far; Release Date, Gameplay, And More
J Rose"Final Fantasy 7" is arguably one of the most iconic "Final Fantasy" titles in the long running series. So when the remake was announced at E3 2013, fans are whipped up into a frenzy of excitement. Here's everything we know about the upcoming remake so far.
"Final Fantasy 7" Remake Will Be "Episodic"
The remake is said to be released in episodic form, just like another Square Enix title "Hitman," and the popular Telltale Games titles.
The reimagining of the popular "Final Fantasy" series will be released in multiple instalments, and each will be structured as a full game.
"It will essentially be a full scale game for each part of the multi-part series," producer Yoshinori Kitase told Game Informer in an interview earlier this year. "In ['Final Fantasy'] 13, each instalment told the story from a different angle. It was kind of like approaching an unknown territory in a sense."
"Whereas with "Final Fantasy VII" Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multi-part series," Kitase continued. "So if we're just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one 'Final Fantasy XIII' game."
"Final Fantasy 7" Remake Battle System
In an interview with Dengeki Playstation (translated by KH13.com), Nomura said that while the battle system in the remake is more action-oriented, the team is looking for ways for the battles to appeal to players who wanted the old-school battle system feels.
"We've heard a lot of fans also say that they want to play the game with the original ATB style, but for the remake we're proceeding toward an action-heavy style, Nomura said. "Of course, we've added systems that future fans will be able to enjoy, so people who are bad at action-style battles, please don't worry."
"For those who excel at action-style battles, we're working to make this a system that's different than what you've used before and can still enjoy," Nomura added.
"Final Fantasy 7" Remake Release Date
It looks like fans would still need to wait further for the much anticipated remaster. Making an appearance in the recent Lucca Comics & Games in Italy, "Final Fantasy" brand manager Shinji Hashimoto briefly discussed future plans for some of their biggest titles, "Final Fantasy 7" Remake included.
Speaking about "Final Fantasy 7" remake's possible 2017 release date circulating online, Hashimoto said that it is "just a rumor," and that the company still has no release date window for the highly anticipated return of Cloud Strife and his gang, Siliconera reported.
However, the brand manager said that the team is working hard on the title and even asked dedicated "Final Fantasy 7" fans to be more patient.
Stay tuned for more news about the much awaited "Final Fantasy 7" remake.
