Android Nougat Update For OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T & OnePlus 2 Set On December 15? No Release For OnePlus One Due To Incompatibility?
Kirsten KaneFollowing the successful release of the OnePlus 3, the company has launched its new flagship smartphone called OnePlus 3T which sports the powerful version of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821processor.
Fortunately, both devices are expected to receive an Android 7.0 Nougat update before the year ends or on December 15, while rumors are rife that the update for OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 is likely to arrive next year.
However, there were reports claiming that the OnePlus 2 will also get the said Android Nougat update this year while the OnePlus One is not likely to get the firmware update as it is more two years old and runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset which is said to be not compatible with Android 7.0 Nougat's Vulcan API.
Moreover, according to Android Authority, "the updates for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will arrive at the same time," adding that "the OnePlus 3 will get every update the OnePlus 3T receives, effectively adding six months to its update shelf life."
The source further explained that the "the OnePlus 3, despite coming out six months earlier than the 3T, will continue to receive updates alongside the OnePlus 3T until the newer device reaches the end of its update life cycle. This is obviously great news for any OnePlus 3 owners worried about the update fate of their now "old" device."
It has been said that the company will get the update via OTA at the same time and also plans to get the OS running on both the phone at the same time so that whenever the OnePlus 3T gets an update, it instantly gets available on the OnePlus 3 as well.
Meanwhile, there are reports that suggest users of OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are suffering from touch latency issues. The OnePlus 3's touch delay is said to be about 93ms, almost double than average Android flagship which usually lands at 50ms.
OnePlus Co-Founder Carl Pei responded to complains via twitter and said that they will fix the problem soon however Nougat is their priority for now.
"We hear the touch latency feedback, and will look at it soon. N has higher priority," tweeted Pei.
Some reports suggest that the company will fix the latency together with the Android Nougat update for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
The company is yet to give its official statement to answer all the rumors about the Android Nougat update for OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 2, and OnePlus.
