Portia Mae M. CansancioReleased on a Monday evening, Apple has made the new iOS 10.2 update available. With seven beta tests done, it finally pushed through for public release. This update includes major bug fixes, tons of new emojis, a new TV app, and a whole lot more.
To install the latest iOS update, users can connect their device to iTunes or download it by going to Settings > General > Software Update. The iOS 10.2 update is available for devices such as the iPhone 5, the iPad 4th generation, the iPod Touch 6th generation, and their antecessors.
What's new in the iOS 10.2 update?
One noticeable change that Apple has made in the latest iOS update is the introduction of 100 new beautifully designed emojis --- some of which include more diverse characters, new professions, face palm expression, more food, sport, and animal-representing emojis, according to Apple.
Apple also introduced a new TV app, which provides recommendations on new movies and TV shows and stores all your video content and downloads in one location. The only downside? It is not available in other countries, except for the United States.
Along with the new TV app comes a new single sign-on feature that allows cable subscribers to sign in only once, along with their credentials, to gain content access with various applications. It is available for DirecTV, GVTC, GTA, Hotwire, Hawaiian Telcom, Metrocast, Service Electric, Sling TV, Dish, and CenturyLink Prism, according to MacRumors.
Another addition to the new iOS 10.2 update is the Preserve Settings for the Camera app. This allows one to set up a default setting on the Camera app when it loads up. Set up this feature by going to Settings > Photos & Camera > Preserve Settings.
There are a lot more new features that iOS 10.2 have in store for users --- including a video app widget, new wallpapers for iPhone 7, new screen effects in iMessage, improved Bluetooth performance for third-party gadgets, access star ratings in Music, and more. Remaining features include apps that have been fixed and updated.
