CES 2017 Latest News And Updates: LG Rumored To Launch Six New Mid-Range Smartphones On January Event
Charles LimWith the year now coming to a close, mobile phone manufacturers are likely already preparing to unveil their new products for next year's release. Most manufacturers are also likely to present their new lineups during the early January consumer electronics and consumer technology tradeshow event, the 2017 CES.
Korean tech giant, LG, is rumored to be presenting up to six new smartphones during the event. However, rather than showcasing their latest flagship products, reports have revealed that all six smartphones will unfortunately be the company's mid-range offerings.
Nevertheless, the 2017 LG offerings still looks to be an interesting bunch as it will be giving mid-market consumers more options should they wish to purchase a new model next year. Majority of what LG is set to offer are simple, upgraded versions of their existing models --- with the exception of two new iterations: the LG Stylus 3 and the LG X Power 2, as well as a brand new mid-range model dubbed as the LG Xcalibur.
The updated models will be getting minor upgrades to either their displays, cameras, batteries, or slight design changes as opposed to major overhauls. These updated models include the 2017 versions of LG K3, LG K4, LG K8, and LG K10.
The 2017 K3 will be getting a bumped up battery capacity and a better front camera. The 2017 K4, on the other hand, will be getting a bigger screen, a bigger battery, and a higher-resolution camera system. The 2017 K8 will get a bigger battery and better cameras. Lastly, the 2017 K10 will have the same relative specs as the 2016 version, but with a slightly altered design.
As for the new LG model, the LG Xcaliber will reportedly be a rugged smartphone with an IP68 military-standard durability; meaning, it will be dust and water-resistant. The LG Stylus 3 and the LG X Power 2 will be follow up models for their respective predecessors, with each one getting new hardware and feature upgrades.
