Before Apple released this update, there had been many reports from the MacBook Pro 2016 users that the battery life seems shorter than it should be. The new laptop could only achieve around five to six hours life from Apple's 'up to ten hours' limit.

According to Forbes, the released MacBook Pro 2016 update will solve the reported problem of the laptop. To answer everyone's complaints, Apple removed the battery's time remaining indicator. The decision was right for once the indicator was removed, the surgical software changes has led to greater battery endurance and improve the stability, compatibility and security of the laptop.

Good reports are coming in of longer battery life on MacBook Pro 2016 units that has installed the software update. Now, the five-six hours window of battery's estimated time remaining indicator that many users were previously achieving is gone, replaced with more realistic expectation of nine to ten hours life.

In addition, the idle power consumption that, before the software update, wouldn't go below 6 watts, now it goes to minus 4 watts with 60% brightness and the ambient light sensor also turn on. It's all thanks to the third-party battery monitoring software such as Coconut Battery that MacBook Pro 2016 users can also track down where the power is being saved.

According to Autoomobile, Apple didn't say that this software update was for the improvement of the battery life but more to the improvement of stability and graphic. However, the macOS sierra 10.12.2 update was released much to Apple's promise that the MacBook Pro 2016 offers up to ten hours of battery life. Apple continues to hold on that promise.
