Not a long time ago, we heard whispers about Microsoft developing a mobile version of Office for iOS, and possibly for android too, which is scheduled to release in November this year. Not surprisingly, new reports hitting blogosphere today suggest November 10 release date for the much-awaited app.
According to The Daily, Microsoft will release the mobile version of Office on November 10. The website sited sources within the Microsoft team utilized in development of mobile version of the popular office software. The iPad news publication also claimed in the past that the software giant is working on Office for iPad which will soon be submitted to Apple for review so that it can appear on the iOS App Store. However, Microsoft quickly responded to the report, saying that it is based on inaccurate rumors and speculations.
Folks at Boy Genius Report claimed last week that Microsoft is planning to release full Office suite for iPad and Android tablets, which is slated for November release. The tech site also states that one of their sources has witnessed Apple iPad running a touch optimized version of Microsoft Office. BGR points to The Daily's claim that the version is identical to the one leaked by iPad publication website earlier this year.
Microsoft Office, at the moment, is one of the most missed features in smartphones and tablets. The tool has declared its dominance on text editing software market. The debut of MS Office for iOS and android was something expected. Microsoft has also released an optimized version of MS Office called "Office 365" for U.S. Government agencies.
The mobile version of MS Office is likely to include a text editor (MS Word), presentation tool (Excel), spreadsheet software (PowerPoint) and a PDF reader. However, we will be not surprised to see other desktop-like tools including One Note and Outlook (e-mail app) in the package. Pricing and final features are still unknown.
