Samsung Galaxy S8 to be released in April 2017 [Report]
Shena GolosinoDespite this year's misfortune on the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung will release one of its flagship and top of the line smartphone this 2017: the Samsung Galaxy S8. This rumor has been spreading like wildfire as 2017 approaches.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumored to be launched on the first half of the year. Some say that it would be on the Mobile World Congress (MWC) that will begin on February 27 until March 2, 2017 while other rumors state that it will be released on April. According to Trusted Reviews, the Wall Street Journal reported that Samsung might miss the Mobile World Congress due to Samsung executives delaying the development of the Galaxy S8 by two weeks because engineers are working to solve the Note 7's overheating problem.
Rumors stated that the home key button below the display will be removed from the Galaxy S8. ALso, Trusted Reviews reported that "Samsung allegedly wants to do this to "fill all of the front of the Galaxy S8 with just screen."
Another rumor said that the Galaxy S8 might have smaller bezels than its predecessor. "According to a Bloomberg report in November, "bezel-less" phone will "provide more viewing real estate." as mentioned in Android Headlines' report.
Regarding the phone's fingerprint scanner, Synaptics announced that Samsung developed a new fingerprint scanner which is the Natural ID FS9100 optical fingerprint sensor. This fingerprint scanner can scan fingerprints through 1mm of "full cover glass."
Samsung Galaxy S8 is also rumored to have a Snapdragon 830 processor, 6GB RAM and a dual lens camera. Its rear camera is said to have 30 MP and the front is 8 MP. Its battery is also said to be 4200 mAh.
Besides its internal features, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will also come in curved models and in two different sizes: a 5.1-inch and a 5.5-inch size. The phone is said to have no flat version. According to Tech Radar, Samsung Mobile President Dong-jin Koh said that Samsung has considered the edge display as the identity of the Galaxy S smartphone lineup.
