Pokemon Prism, a fan project supposed to be released later this week, has been cracked down by Nintendo. Developer of the said fan-made Pokemon ROM hack cancels its launch after the gaming giant issued a cease and desist order.
The said Pokemon ROM hack has been in the works for around eight years already before being shut down just days prior its scheduled launch. "Pokemon Prism" is now a thing of the past and is permanently shelved. The said fan-made Pokemon ROM made an impact due to the pre-release teaser the developer published just recently. Unfortunately for the developer, the legal counsel of Nintendo got their eyes on him as well.
Known for their zero tolerance intellectual property convention, Nintendo found its way to forcefully close down "Pokemon Prism." Just months ago, another game, "Pokemon Uranium" was tracked down by the legal team as well and was then put to rest before the project was launched. In this case, the developer never got to see the release of his creation.
A lot of fans were asking why the "Pokemon Prism" developer had to release a trailer prior to the launch of the ROM hack as he knows it will be picked up quickly by Nintendo. As reported by Game Rant, the developer, identified as "Adam", had since admitted to the mistake of uploading the teaser too soon.
While regretful about what happened, Adam saw something come out of the eight-year long project tragic outcome, stating: "I learned invaluable knowledge from developing "Pokemon Prism," it is something no one can ever take away from me." Adam has been a Pokemon fan all his life; he is upset but he also accepts that there are risks to modifications of certain company's intellectual property.
"Pokemon Prism" quickly became viral after its release and achieved 1.4 million views. While the developer had to take down the initial teaser, other Youtubers have since reuploaded the trailer for documentation purposes of the gaming history. Check it out here:
