It's Christmas and it's not just about giving gifts and spreading love. It's also the time when people around the world get to hear different Christmas songs. Just in time for that are Jimmy Fallon and The Roots who got help from the cast of animated film "Sing" plus Paul McCartney himself and Seth McFarlane.
Jimmy Fallon, the host of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" has done several acapella songs with The Roots and several other artists. In time for Christmas and the showing of "Sing," the host invited the cast to sing an acapella version of "Wonderful Christmastime." McFarlane was also in the wonderful video.
Since "Wonderful Christmastime" was originally by Paul McCartney, the Beatles' member also joined in the fun. According to Entertainment Tonight, the hit was first heard in 1986; three decades ago.
First off to appear for the cast of "Sing" was Reese Witherspoon. Scarlett Johansson, Matthew McConaughey and Tori Kelly soon showed up, singing their parts of the song and harmonizing with the group. Of course, their animal counterparts for the movie also made an appearance.
"Sing" is an Illumination Entertainment animated musical film directed and written by Garth Jennings. The movie revolves around different animals who joined a singing contest.
McConaughey plays an optimistic koala who was the brain behind the singing contest. Witherspoon, on the other hand, voices a stressed mother pig who gave up her teenage dream of becoming a singer to be a wife and a mother. Johansson voices a rockstar porcupine who was brokenhearted after her boyfriend cheated on her with another porcupine.
Among the cast is Tori Kelly who plays an elephant who has stage fright and Taron Egerton who lent his voice to a gorilla who only wanted to sing despite his father's wishes.
"Sing" is now showing in theaters; a perfect Christmas film for the kids and the whole family.
