Just like any other games, "Pokemon Go" also has December update where seven new Gen 2 baby Pokemon are being added. Alongside these baby Pokemon, the Santa Hat Pikachu was also added, which is one of the most sought-after item in the game at the moment.

The existing Pikachus are not the only ones being transformed but there are a lot of them too and if players haven't caught one, well, they should so they can stock up many Pikachu candy in case of upgrades and evolution. Usually, when Pikachu is evolved, it normally transforms into Raichu but now, Niantic assured that when Santa Hat Pikachu is evolved, Raichu gets to keep his hat, which the developer pledge that Raichu and Pikachu would still have their hats even after the holiday event ends, reports Forbes.

Because of this, Santa Hat Raichu is one of the rarest find and special edition Pokemon in "Pokemon Go," which can be a limited time only. Although there have been plenty of Santa Hat Pikachu to catch, getting enough to create a Santa Hat Raichu is not an easy achievement.

According to Blasting News, there were two Easter eggs that players found, which they think that there must be a Christmas-themed update in "Pokemon Go." Multi-colored present-themed icons in the game were also noticed by players and they also found a new code called HasHolidayItems.

Following the players' discovery, Niantic has finally revealed its holiday event, which kicks off Dec. 25. From Dec. 25 - Jan. 3, PokeStops will offer a single-use Incubator at least once a day including new eggs that have a good chance of hatching the new Gen 2 baby Pokemon and Santa Hat Pikachu will definitely stay longer than Dec. 29.

Squirtle, Bulbasaur and Charmadner and their evolutions will also show up more often from Dec. 30 to Jan. 8. Lures will also last 60 minutes now instead of 30 minutes throughout this period. Note that double candy or XP are not part of the "Pokemon Go" holiday event.
