Crytek, the development studio behind the "Far Cry" games and "The Climb" has announced that "Robinson: The Journey" will be coming to the Oculus Rift Platform. The studio's virtual dinosaur game was previously exclusive to PlayStation VR.

Revealed in July 2015, "Robinson: The Journey" has since become Crytek's prized gems, gaining positive feedback from its two VR tech demos, "Back to Dinosaur Island 1" and "Back to Dinosaur Island 2." Previously, Crytek's Director of Production David Bowman did confirm that the company is working with major VR platforms: PlayStation, Oculus and HTC, in his interview with Tom's Hardware. The new announcement seems to signal the materialization of the initial plan.

Bowman's interview concluded that "Robinson: The Journey" will indeed find a home in all three VR platforms, although it was the last time Crytek mentioned of the matter. October 2015 saw the game launched for PSVR alone, not mentioning any other platform apart from Sony's.

This led many gamers to believe that "Robinson: The Journey" is completely tied up to PSVR, which was further reinforced at E3 2016. To recall, Crytek revealed a PSVR trailer for the game, again without hints of other platforms. PlayStation also featured Fatih Oezhayram and Elijah Freeman, both Crytek developers, as seen on its YouTube channel.

Crytek has been hard at work in promoting "Robinson: The Journey" for PSVR, so it comes as no surprise why the game has been branded exclusive for Sony's gaming console. If not for Bowman's interview in 2015, the Oculus Rift news would be a total shocker, given the development studio is reportedly going through financial instability.

According to Crytek, "Robinson: The Journey" will be available in January 2017 at the Oculus Store. The company has not provided an exact date yet, as well as details about the upcoming release. Crytek developed the game with CryEngine, so what's clear for now is that a wide range of graphic options is to be expected to make use of the most aggressive GPUs.
