With more than 9 million preorders, Samsung Galaxy S3 has turned out to be the most popular smartphone made ever. Due to heavy demand for the smartphone in European and Asian market, the U.S. release date seems to be in danger after Canada debut of the highly anticipated smartphone has been pushed back by one week.
Citing "unprecedented demand", Samsung Canada tweeted on Friday that the release date for Galaxy S3 has been delayed to June 27. Originally, the smartphone was scheduled to release on June 20 in Canada. The delay will affect all Canadian carriers that were eyeing to roll out the device on June 20.Till now Bell, Rogers, TELUS, WIND, SaskTel, Videotron, Mobilicity and Virgin Mobile Canada are the wireless carriers confirmed to release the device on the highlighted date.
"Due to unprecedented global demand for the highly anticipated Samsung GALAXY S III, with more than 9 million carrier pre-orders to date, the date of availability for purchase of this device in Canada, is now June 27th. In advance of the GALAXY S III availability date, most carriers and retailers are offering customers the chance to register on-line for updates, and some partners are offering their customers the option to pre-order the Galaxy S III. We expect any shortages to be short lived as we ramp up production to meet this unprecedented global demand," said Samsung in a statement to Mobile Syrup.
It looks like Android fans in Canada have to wait a week more to get their hands on Samsung Galaxy S3. The delays may also cause an impact on U.S. release date as the production of 4G LTE variant of Galaxy S3 seems to be lousy against its demand. Verizon Wireless has also pushed back the shipping date for Galaxy S3, however by one day only, from July 9 to July 10. This is the second time the release date for Galaxy S3 has been delayed at Verizon Wireless.
On the other hand, AT&T also seems to be unclear about the release date. AT&T mentions in preorder form that shipping of Galaxy S3 will start on June 18. However, AT&T customers who have preordered the device from the carrier claim to have received information that the device is shipping on or before June 21. T-Mobile and Sprint are firm on June 21 debut.
