Apple Worldwide Developer Conference is over. The Cupertino showed off MacBook Pro with Retina display, along with iOS 6 at the show. Apple iPhone 5 eventually will be the first smartphone to feature the highlighted mobile operating system. However, there was no announcement regarding sixth generation iPhone at the show. Apple made it clear that the highly anticipated smartphone is not coming anytime soon. And if the latest reports are to be believed, there is still some time before the smartphone enters production phase.
Bringing scattered pieces together, here are the features that are most likely to be associated with the next generation iPhone.
New Design
We have heard much about the design of iPhone. Some real looking photos and many concept designs have surfaced online in past few weeks. But all these images have one thing in common - unibody design with larger display. The recent unedited photos show aluminum unibody design with glass border at the top and bottom ends. Most reports suggest 4-inch screen size, but there is a conflict regarding the screen resolution. Earlier it was believed that the screen will be 720p, but some of the reports are pointing out to 1136 x 640 pixels resolution. Whatever the screen resolution may be, Apple will surely be adding some bits to the length of the next iPhone.
A5X Variant with 1GB of RAM
Earlier it was believed that Apple will feature quad-core A6 processor chip in iPhone 5. But those reports started to vanish after 9to5Mac reported that the smartphone will be packing a variant of dual-core A5X chip found in the iPhone 4S and third generation iPad. The publication claimed iPhone 5 prototype runs on ARM-based S5L8950X processor, which has higher model number than previous A5X chips. We would not be surprised if Apple iPhone 5 also features quad-core graphics like the new iPad. Apple is also expected to upgrade RAM to 1GB in iPhone 5.
4G LTE Connectivity
With the debut of new iPad, featuring 4G LTE radios, it became clear that iPhone 5 will also follow the same road. But, this is not all what we have got. Citing sources within supply chain, Digitimes reported last week that Qualcomm is gearing up for production of 4G LTE chips for next iPhone. The report further indicates that Broadcom will produce Wi-Fi chip for iPhone 5.
