Android 2.0: What To Expect From The Most Awaited Smartwatch Next Year
Caroline SorianoThere are no confirmed dates yet as to when Google will launch the latest flagship models that will run on its Android Wear 2.0. However, it is expected to come out anytime soon. It is also said that the largest search engine in the world will be partnering with other producers to produce their new smartwatches.
The first quarter of 2017 should be an exciting moment for Google because of the statement of Jeff Chang, Google's product manager, on The Verge. It is about the release of two new flagship smartwatches which will exhibit the new platform. This will also show Google's attempt on making their consumers believe that smartwatches are still popular.
Allegedly, the upcoming Android Wear 2.0 will not integrate any Google or Pixel branding but instead, it will have the manufacturer's brand on it. Prior to this, Google has already worked with an anonymous company that has manufactured the Android Wear. Meanwhile, the partnership's center is the hardware design and software of the upcoming Android Wear 2.0 device.
Some watches will be upgraded to Android Wear 2.0 next year. These are Casio Smartwatch Outdoor, Fossil Q Founder, Fossil Q Marshall, Fossil Q Wander, LG G Watch R, LG Watch Urbane, LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, Moto 360 Sport, Moto 360 Gen 2, Nixon Mission, and Polar M600.
Meanwhile, brand such as Asus ZenWatch 2m Asus ZenWatch 3m Huawei Watch, Huawei Watch Ladies, Michael Kors Access Bradshaw Smartwatch, Michael Kors Access Dylan Smartwatch and Tag Heuer Connected will be updated soon but no confirmed dates were given yet.
Meanwhile, MacRumors reports that the expected Android Wear 2.0 will feature new standalone apps that won't need any phone to work, a Google Assistant support, an Android Pay support, and much more. 2017 is expected to be a year of competition between Apple Watch and Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches and it will only take few months to see who will excel.
