Video Converting Tool HandBrake Finally Launched As Version 1.0.0 After 13 Years on Beta
Cris Xander JulianoBefore an application or program is released to the general public, it goes through what developers call a "beta phase". This is the time wherein early users of the program or application give feedback to the developers to improve the overall system. HandBrake, one of the most popular video converting tools, has been on beta-phase for the past 13 years, until now.
According to a report by 9to5mac, HandBrake is finally launched as version 1.0.0 after being on beta for 13 years, which I think is a new record because programs or applications on beta usually last only a few months.
HandBrake is popular among people who convert their videos in to a more compressed video file for watching on their mobile devices. It's free to download from its official website, and available for multi-platforms like Mac, Windows and Linux. This tool was originally created for ripping DVDs.
Betanews reported that the most obvious change that users will notice is the new presets. A preset for a quick general purpose option, or something more specific to a device, is now available. Video improvement modes are also included in this new version, including Auto anamorphic mode. The Decomb filter now has extra settings and new defaults.
Users have the option to pause encoding on the Windows build, and if users stop in the middle of encoding, HandBrake finalizes the part that was encoded and will be available for playback. There are also a lot of bug fixes and usability tweaks, too many to mention in this article.
HandBrake version 1.0.0 can now be downloaded for Windows, Mac and Linux. Write and share your comments down below and signup for our newsletter so you may receive the latest news and updates.
