Donald Trump Tells The Media That Sprint Will Be Bringing 5,000 Jobs Back To The US; SoftBank's Founder Promises At Least 50,000 Jobs
Ceage SottoDonald Trump said on Wednesday that Sprint Corp will be bringing back 5,000 jobs back to American soil. The next POTUS told broke the news outside his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
According to Reuters, President-elect Donald Trump got a call from Sprint executives about the matter. Head management from Sprint reportedly told the future POTUS that the jobs will be taken from other countries. Conversely, Trump has previously criticized some American-based companies due to job outsourcing outside of the USA.
During his discussions with the media, Trump bared plans about a new company hiring more people. OneWeb is a new company that plans to hire 3,000 American citizens. The firm allegedly told the next POTUS about the hiring plans.
Donald Trump said that these are "very exciting" news. He attributes the changes to "the spirit and the hope" of the American people. The future commander-in-chief also mentioned his transition discussions with President Barack Obama as a factor for the new jobs.
In other news, the Washington Post featured a bigger number of jobs brought to the U.S soil by a Japanese tech mogul. Donald Trump bared Masayoshi Son's promise to give 50,000 jobs during a meeting earlier in December.
The Japanese billionaire is the founder and chief executive of SoftBank. Son's company acquired Sprint in 2013 and since then Sprint has struggled to get a grip on the competitive American market. The US-based network service provider has fired at least 9,000 workers between 2012 and 2016.
Regardless of the numbers, Sprint's chief executive has told several people that the company is "Excited to work with Trump." Marcelo Claure believes that partnering with the government in creating more job opportunities will ensure prosperity for all Americans.
The year 2016 was not that bad for the American job market. During a 12-month span, employers have reportedly added more than 2.2 million jobs for American citizens.
