The Most Controversial Games And Apps Of 2016

Cris Xander Juliano

Game and app developers sometimes can't help but be the topic of controversies. No matter how hard they try, things just don't go their way. According to a report by Android Authority, here are the most controversial games and apps of the year 2016.

Badland 2

The first "Badland" game was quite popular and was a very fun platformer game. Then "Badland 2" came along, released by Cheetah Games, and ruined it with a lot of advertisement and in-app purchases. This change made fans of the first game very annoyed and angry.

Beme

This app was created by YouTuber Casey Neistat for the purpose of being a social media app but failed to do so. Neistat was able to sell Beme to CNN for $25 million, after which, he stopped being a YouTuber altogether. People were amazed that this app was worth $25 million, and branded Neistat a sell-out.

ES File Explorer

This app was once very popular among users, until it began adding fake and useless features like task management, cache cleaning and performance boosting. The worst part is when they added the "charge booster" feature, but it allowed the app to blast advertisements on to the lock screen, which understandably angered a lot of users.

Pokemon Go

This has to be the most popular app on this list, but quite controversial as well. This app made people do foolish things, like trespassing, criminals were luring people to "Pokestops" to rob them, and some countries even banned this game. It's been a crazy 2016 for Pokemon Go.

Miitomo

This app was developed by Nintendo and it was their first attempt on Android. Miitomo was popular for about a week, and then quickly vanished. People were torn if this was even a game, or if it's even a good game at that, a very disappointing app from Nintendo.
