'Pokemon Go' New Year Event Is Finally Here! Increased Spawns Of Charmander, Bulbasaur And Squirtle

Get your Pokeballs ready because the "Pokemon Go" New Year event is finally here! Players will get to see more spawns of the Kanto region starter Pokemon, Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle along with their first and final evolutions. The event is now live today which will run until Jan. 8, 2017 that will give a chance for players to fill out their missing Pokemon on their Pokedex.

"From the afternoon of December 30, 2016, through the afternoon of January 8, 2017 (PST), the first partner Pokémon and their Evolutions, originally discovered in the Kanto region, are more likely to be encountered," a post from the official "Pokemon Go" Facebook page said. Niantic also mentioned that that luring at a Pokestop will now run from 60 minutes instead of the usual 30 minutes.

Aside from the increase spawns of the Kanto region starters, Niantic will also release the Bronze, Silver and Gold boxes which would contain useful items like the Incese, Lure Modules, Lucky Eggs, Pokeballs and Great Balls. The gift boxes will be available in the "Pokemon Go" in-game shop which will be sold at a discounted rate which will end on Jan. 3, 2017.

WWG reports that once the holiday events of the game are over, it is then expected that the next update will feature a lot of new pokemons for the game. It is speculated that the second generation Pokemon from the Johto region will now appear. This means pokemons like Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile might be added next to entice more trainers to play the game.

The beginning of the New Year event is the end of the spawns for the Santa Pikachu as well as the Santa Raichu. The 10th nest migration has also took place yesterday where a specific type of Pokemon would change or switch from one nest to another every two weeks.
