Spain and Portugal rarely met in major tournaments. However, when this rare faceoff takes place, the results are unexpected. Spain and Portugal are meeting in the first semi-final of UEFA Euro 2012 tournament. So expect cracker of a match.

Last time, the two soccer giants met each other was in 2010. In a friendly match in November 2012, Portugal crushed Spain by 4-0 difference, while Spain defeated Portugal by (1-0) in a World Cup match earlier in the same year.

In Euro 2012, both Spain and Portugal won three consecutive matches in a row after facing opening day draw with Italy and loss to Germany respectively.

Last Sunday, Spain crushed France 2-0 to reach Euro 2012 semifinals. On the other hand, Portugal secured its place in tournament's semifinals on June 22 by defeating Czech Republic by the only goal in the match.   

Both the teams will be adopting every possible strategy and technique to get to the finals of the tournament where the winning team will face either Germany or Italy. The fate of Germany and Italy will also be decided on Thursday, while the Euro 2012 final will take on Sunday, July 1.

The exact formation of both Spain and Portugal is still unknown. However, Portugal has put out the same starting lineup for all four of its matches at the tournament so far, which is expected in this match too. Here is the expected starting line-up from both the team.
