2016 was a big year for the PS4 as it was able to outsell Xbox One with its offerings. The sales chart of Amazon revealed that PS4 was the clear frontrunner in the United States.

PS4 occupies top three spots

In the listing recently unveiled, the PS4 held the top three spot in the bestselling console for 2016. Included in the top 3 list is the PS4 Pro 1TB variant, PS4 500GB "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" Bundle and the PS4 Slim 500GB "Uncharted" offering.

Xbox One followed with the Xbox One S 500GB "Battlefield 1" and the "Minecraft" Bundles. Aside from this, PlayStaion also sold more accessories including gift and membership cards compared to the Xbox One which means that the public chose to buy more PS4 products for the past year.

Sales comparison

For last year, the PlayStation 4 reportedly sold 53.4 million units all over the world. This is another achievement for the PS4 which also sold more than 6 million units for the holiday season alone.

On the other hand, the figures for the sales last year for the Xbox One still remains a mystery for all since Microsoft has not yet their figures for last year. It was earlier announced by the company that they will focus more on the number of active users they have for each month rather than highlighting on sales.

PS4 earned more last year

Considering last year's performance, gamers concluded that the PS4 was the clear leader as it has always been. On the other hand, the performance of the Xbox One should also not be set aside because of the big numbers it raked for 2016.

For this year, many are expecting more fresh and great introductions for both consoles especially in terms of game titles. What do you like to see new with the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4?
