Say Goodbye To Motion Sickness: How To Find Suitable Games For The Oculus Rift & Other VR Platforms
Arianne GiftIt is undeniable that even with accurate head-tracking and specially designed games for the Oculus Rift, some people still have a hard time dealing with virtual reality because of motion sickness. If you are one of the unlucky ones who have motion sickness, here's your guide in finding games that work for you. Find your VR platform below!
Oculus Rift
The Oculus Rift probably has the best system when it comes to avoiding games that could trigger motion sickness. You can sort the games using three types of Comfort Level ratings, based on each game's individual experience.
Games for the Oculus Rift are ranked as Comfortable, Moderate and Intense. According to VRHeads, it should be noted that the Comfort Levels have no link to a game's content or themes, and only represents the accessibility of the VR component.
Gear VR
Since Gear VR is tied up with the Oculus Store, Samsung's VR platform basically has the same comfort ratings as the Oculus rift. You can find the rating just below the price on the Android application.
HTC Vive
SteamVR is the place to be for HTC Vive content, which means there's no chance of seeing a comfort rating at all. However, here's a workaround: go through among the user reviews! Keep a lookout for anyone complaining of motion sickness and the like. Also, Vive has loads of free demos, so go ahead and take advantage of that before purchasing a game.
PlayStation VR
Unfortunately, Sony's VR platform lacks a comfort rating system. Although the company has considered the idea of adding a system, it withdrew from it, saying that the process is subjective in nature, VRFocus reported.
Google Daydream
Considering Daydream is pretty new, the platform still has a long way to go before catching up to other VR platforms. Like the PSVR, it lacks any form of comfort ratings for now so better hit the reviews first.
