"Star Citizen," the crowdfunded PC space game from the efforts of Roberts Space Industries and Cloud Imperium Games has received a whopping $141 million from backers. They have been working hard on the game that is classified as an indie game that has an AAA budget, which now has crazy figures.

Chris Roberts, the boss at Cloud Imperium Games released a ‘Happy New Year' statement via DualShockers where he talked about a few of their plans for "Star Citizen" in the New Year and said that efforts will be made to ‘refine and enhance' Lumberyard, the game's engine. According to GameSpot, developer Cloud Imperium Games announced before the New Year that it will no longer use Crytek's CryEngine and will use Amazon's engine instead.

Roberts continued by saying that they have been delighted on getting positive feedback from the release of Alpha 2.6 and have been stoked with the great videos and images being made with the new camera controls. He added that they also plan to release an incremental patch 2.6.1 that will include some of the features, which have slipped out of 2.6 update, bug fixes to increase the game's stability and continued balance and gameplay tweaks.

According to Cinema Blend, "Star Citizen" has ben in development since 2012, which Roberts wants to provide PC gamers a high-end space game with CG-quality graphics that run in real-time with a single-player story as well as MMO-sized multiplayer component. Roberts also said that they will launch their new and enhanced community platform Spectrum for a better communication with fans and will also revamp their shows and add new ones.

The developer had to switch Amazon's AWS cloud server technology through Lumberyard in an effort to bridge the different gameplay modules together, which includes a combat flight sim - the Arena Commander, a first-person component called Star Marine as well as a racing mode that is set on a futuristic planet. Roberts ended his statement by saying that 2016 was a ‘noteworthy year' for the development of "Star Citizen."
