ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3S Confirmed Running Android 7.0 Nougat OS, Massive 5000mAh Battery; Available In China This Month
Rei LantionFollowing the success of last year's ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3, ASUS has quietly launched its successor, the ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3S, in China.
Already touted as a noticeable upgrade to the previous model, the ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3S features an all-metal body, a fused antenna band design (similar to the iPhone 7) and a front fingerprint scanner embedded under the physical home button. Available for China this month, price is said to be around 1,999 Yuan (around $288) for the 64GB variant.
According to GSMArena, there are two internal storage options - the 32GB and the 64GB. For those who need more than 64GB, users may also increase the storage up to 2TB via microSD. Reports also say the handset runs on the MediaTek MT6750 chipset with octa-core 64-bit processing power. More specs are available below.
Body and Display. The ZenFone Pegasus 3S has a 5.2" IPS HD display, is covered by a 2.5D glass top, and supposedly has very thin bezels for that high screen-to-body ratio. Aside from the aforementioned fingerprint scanner embedded in the physical home button, it also has a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera.
The rear camera comes with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection auto-focus. Similar to the ZenFone 3 Zoom, the Pegasus 3S has PixelMaster technology.
Under the Hood. Aside from the 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 chipset, the handset runs Android 7.0 Nougat. One of its main selling points, or so SoftPedia reports, is its battery. The ZenFone Pegasus 3S has a powerful, non-removable 5000mAh battery with 5V/2A fast charge.
The company claims it as up to 30 days of standby time and a full 48 hours of intense use, but lack of first-hand customer reviews neither confirm nor deny. It also features at least five different power saver modes.
The ASUS ZenFone Pegasus 3S is a dual-SIM device that supports VoLTE, WiFi, and 4G speeds. It will be available for purchase in China this month, but no word yet on global launch.
